Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item level upgrade or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an added bonus or effect while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests and missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade an item upgrader mod of armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.

There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be put in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from earlier versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level, but the required materials do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available depends on the type of item it is. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item is not able to reach its max level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to measure the height of the building with a known point, such as the benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to the highest level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item upgrade. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in very rare instances.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item upgrader mod or another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the degree of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the usual affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending lots of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can give players a faster route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in different ways. They could be of various sizes, have no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to parity with the tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant increase in their power. This will also increase the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
