This is quieter than the normal refrigerators, and has only a the slightest hum when it is it is in operation.

The refrigerator's capacity total of 295 litres, which includes the fridge compartment containing 209 litres and the bottom-mounted freezer supplying 89 litres of storage space. It's not frost free retro fridge freezer-free and requires manual defrosting in order to maintain its peak performance. The drawer for chilled drinks is a nice feature and there's plenty space in the drawer for fresh fruits and vegetables.

The refrigerator scored an A+ in energy efficiency. This is the lowest energy efficiency rating we have ever tested and is a great result for an appliance at this price. It was also fairly quiet and had a noise score of 42 decibels. It's a little louder than some of the cheaper models we tested, but it is quieter than the older models which made a lot of noise.

Swan has kept its design simple which is an advantage in terms of ease-of-use. The fridge is equipped with an LED bulb light and a thermostat that rotates to regulate temperature. The temperature was extremely stable and the top and mid shelves only changing by a few degrees either side of their average and the salad drawer remained at a comfortable 2oC. However we did notice that it was very warm at the back and could be a problem in warmer rooms.

Energy efficiency

The SR11010 is a retro classic that will be an excellent addition to your kitchen. The collection combines a vintage design with contemporary A+ efficiency.

The generously sized refrigerator has glass shelves and a chrome wine rack. The freezer side is a great place to store fresh vegetables and has an ice-coated drawer. There is a convenient fast freeze function that allows you to quickly chill fresh food items added to the freezer, sealing in the flavor and goodness.

The Swan is surprisingly quiet, even though it is an old-fashioned compressor model. We tested it at a modest 42dB while it was running. It's considerably quieter than models from 10 years ago, and much quieter than most of the fridge freezers in our Best Buy chart.

Temperature stability was also good for a fridge that was this kind. The average temperature of the top shelf, middle and lower shelves was within a few degrees of the maximum. The salad drawer was a little more variable, oscillating between 5oC and just Under Counter Retro Fridge Freezer freezing.

As with the SR11010, the fridge will require an occasional manual defrost but is graded A+ for energy efficiency. This is the most energy-efficient fridge freezer on our Best Buy chart. It will help keep your electric bill low.

This is a great illustration of how Swan can provide attractive retro designs at very affordable costs. The SR11010 is a fantastic product with a great design and comes in a variety of colors.
