WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the Item Level upgrade used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Crests

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrading upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item level upgrade is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
