WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade items boosts the level of an item by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item upgrading and the current Item Level Upgrade level. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade items cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will be less expensive, even when they belong to a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's Best item upgrade to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
