Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose one that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that requires emptying only periodically.

There are also models that can mop and charge themselves which can be important for people with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or through the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and Automatic Floor cleaner lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility amazon robot vacuum Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning robots sessions, move itself around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits in well next to the coffee table or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like an enchanted device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task that is being completed. It quickly switches from handheld to Automatic Floor Cleaner vacuum and back.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and a clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second run generally works). That's not to say this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most adored bagless robot vacuum vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's a good option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's no surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we've tested and could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature allows you to check in on your pets or children while you're away. The filter and the dust bin are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path and a dustbin that is 2X larger than the competition. This allows them to keep the area clean for longer. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell whether it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets you to view the virtual map, manage functions, and set schedules. Plus, you can monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and send it back to its dock to charge at the push of the button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum by using different colors, so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.

The application also allows you to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as a cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
